This is a new version of the Joulemeter that will undergo real-life testing in some Vehicles.
It is not a part of the official Telemetry system yet!
Currently, if your Telemetry Kit contains a JM3, it can also contain a JM2 or multiple JM3. Joulemeter 2nd gen.
YOU ARE REQUIRED TO INSTALL ALL JOULEMETERS!
Wire the high current wires through both Joulemters (JM2 and JM3). It does not matter which Joulemeter is first!
ICE
Wire the Joulemeter data cable in series to the Liquid Flow Meter using two CAN cables and a T-Splitter mounted on to the LFM. Connect the Joulemeter as the second device in row to the Liquid Flow Meter. At the Backbone, use the connector marked „SENSOR“. For the JM3, use the USB cable for charging only! See charging instruction below.
BE & H2
Connect the JM3 data cable to the „SENSOR“ outlet of the Backbone. For the JM3, use the USB cable for charging only! See charging instruction below.
Charging the JM3
The JM3 will be supplied with a fully charged battery.
If the device is only being swiched on when your vehicle is on track, the battery will last for the whole event. If it needs charging make shure your JM3 and your OBC system (Pod) are both off.
Then connect the USB mini cable to any USB outlet able to deliver more than 1A of current, plug the other end to the JM3 and switch the Joulmeter on.
Now charging begins, indicated by the flashing LED. When the flashing LED turns green, the battery is almost full. If you have the time, let the charger top off the battery for an additional hour. Then unplug USB and switch off the JM3.
Charging a fully depleted battery will take about 3 hours.
